Album: The Cloud Making Machine Laurent Garnier (born February 1, 1966) is a French techno music producer and DJ. Laurent Garnier began DJ-ing in Manchester during the late 1980s. By the following decade, he had a broad stylistic range, able to span classic deep house and Detroit techno, the harder side of acid/trance and jazzy tracks as well. Gasoline and Fuel Economy: Auto Industry at a Crossroads - Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming - 2008-06-26 - On June 26th, The Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming discussed the future role of the auto industry and our federal government in fighting gas prices and examine the fuel economy standards proposed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in response to the enactment of the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007. NHTSA's proposal calls for the fleet of cars and light trucks to average 31.6 miles per gallon by model year 2015 - but when calculating these standards, NHTSA used Energy Information Administration (EIA) assumptions about gas prices that defy reality, ranging from .42/gallon in 2016 to .51/gallon in 2030. The administration concedes that gas prices are the most critical element in determining mile per gallon increases in America's vehicle fleet. At a hearing before the Select Committee earlier this month, the EIA said NHTSA should use the high end analysis for gas prices, which would have the effect of significantly raising the achievable miles per gallon in future vehicles. WITNESS LIST: The Honorable Tyler Duvall, Assistant Secretary for Policy, Department of Transportation; Mr. Dominique Thormann, Senior Vice President, Nissan North America, Inc.; Mr. Shai Agassi, Founder and CEO, Project Better Place; Mr. Torben Holm, Consultant, DONG Energy A/S; Mr. Jeffrey R. Lemon James is famous all over the world as the Detroit blues rock chick, a helluva guitar girl, singin' & slingin' riffs like Jimi Hendrix. This song is about her cat chillin' outside on a spring day. Here in Michigan, some of our days during the holidays have been like spring days in the 50's and 60's.

Taped Live on February 12th, 2010. Shot and edited by Perry PM Belcher and Aaron Kluck. The Men in Black (Band) performed a huge array of songs to a very enthused crowd that was jam packed. This was a two camera shoot and the crew had to be on top of everything - with that said, I can say that this was one of the most fun shows I have been a part of and this is a Band that I would hire for any event. Men in Black can be reached at www.meninblackband.com for booking and scheduling information.

Stanley Jordan live at the 2007 Detroit International Jazz Festival playing Miles Davis' famous composition "All Blues". Stanley must bee seen to be fully appreciated. He plays BOTH the piano and guitar simultaneously on this song and when not seen you think you are hearing a quartet instead of his Trio. The trio features David Haynes on drums and Charnet Moffett on Bass. this song is also on Stanley's album "State Of Nature" released in the spring of 2008 on Mack Avenue Records.

There's more fun to be had on the FaceBook Fan Page at: www.facebook.com Monkey Bars "The Hysteric Narcotics gave us the one essential ingredient the everybody was looking for: they just played some great uncomplicated rock & roll that just seemed to make everything feel great once again. If the Hysterics were around today, they would probably be regarded as a fantastic "garage rock" band and would be probably be playing all over Europe and the USA just like the White Stripes, Detroit Cobras, Von Bondies and other current Detroit bands are doing. The Hysteric Narcotics were always a little ahead of their time, but that just made them sound a little more unique." for more on Hysteric Narcotics slip this a link: www.nestorindetroit.com

Download EP link: hotfile.com Links: www.myspace.com www.twitter.com www.last.fm Lyrics: This Time, This time it's on a picture in my head, Growing old, then waiting here 'til I'm dead, This is the last time you'll let us down, This time we're moving on, so go ahead and get gone We left a note under the mat, It said don't come back, Because you know Oh yeah we take this far too seriously, Shut up, I'll make this on my own, And you'll be the one alone These pieces they fell apart, And I'm not saying it's your fault, I'm just saying it would be nice To go back Hey man, what's been up? How's your problems? Are they still keeping you down? Your ego issues make me sick, Your attitude's a pile of shit, Hey man, I don't wanna fight, Dude, you could be my black Kate Moss tonight All that we are, all that we've ever known I'll throw myself off this burning bridge, I'll kill my self just to say I lived, I'll pull this knife from out my back, You'll have to do much better than that, Time that you said that we're all talk, Times that you bailed before we rocked, The time that you said Fuck off I'll make this on my own

Here ia a clip from The Lager House Show in 2004. The Denizens hailed from the music hotbed of Livonia, Michigan where a typical group of bored teenagers formed a rock band after school. In typical fashion Bishop Borgess High School quickly drives the young Denizens to be into the basements after the school dance committee rejects their music (didn't we all have this same experience in high school?). Influenced by such bands as the Stooges, Flamin' Groovies, Standells and the Count Five the Denizens retreat to the basements of Livonia and re-emerge when punk/new wave comes along to save the day. Soon the Denizens had become staples on the small but thriving Detroit punk scene and play such places as Bookie's Club 870 on Six Mile near Woodward. In fact, the Denizens played the first shows ever at Bookie's on March 17th and 18th in 1978. From: www.nestorindetroit.com

PLEASE NOTE: I divided my uploads between multiple channels, Bookmark this link in your browser for instant access to an index with links to all of John1948's oldies classics. LINK: tinyurl.com Jackie "Sonny" Wilson was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in Highland Park, the only son of Jack and Eliza Mae Wilson from Columbus, Mississippi. His father was an alcoholic and constantly unemployed, and his mother, who had lost two earlier children, doted on Wilson and became a powerful influence in his life. He began to sing at an early age, and even formed a quartet, The Ever Ready Gospel Singers Group, which earned a small measure of fame among the local churches. Wilson was a habitual truant, getting in and out of trouble on a regular basis. He began drinking at age nine, and in 1950 at age 16 dropped out of high school. He married Freda Hood, his childhood sweetheart, and a daughter arrived in March, 1951. At this time he was singing in local clubs with Levi Stubbs(later of The Four Tops fame). In 1953 he successfully auditioned for Billy Ward's Dominoes, replacing Clyde McPhatter when the latter left the group to form The Drifters. Their first release was "You Can't Keep A Good Man Down", followed by "Rags to Riches." In 1956 they had their first pop hit, "St. Therese Of The Roses." In 1957 Wilson embarked on a solo career. His manager was Al Green, a music publisher and manager who was already managing Della Reese, Johnnie Ray and La Vern Baker. Green was able to ...

The 2009 Detroit Music Awards put on by the Motor City Music Foundation was well attended by a wide variety of industry professionals. It was definitely the place to be on Friday night with numerous sightings of local celebs and music aficionados. The 18th annual awards show featured 10 categories of music, a Motown 50th Anniversary Revue, a tribute to Ron Asheton by Powertrane featuring Scott Morgan, Hiawatha Bailey, Chris "Box" Taylor and Al King. The evening also featured a tribute to Lyman Woodard and the Woodard Organization who was a Detroit legend for many decades. The highlight of the night was certainly the long overdue reunion of the psychedelic group The Amboy Dukes organized by the legendary outspoken gun toting monster truck driving rocker Ted Nugent. Ted may be showing signs of his age but his licks on the guitar are sharp as ever. The Amboy Dukes featured Ted Nugent on lead guitar, Andy Solomon on Hammond B 3, Rick Lober on keyboards, Steve Farmer on rhythm guitar, Jim Butler on drums and John Drake on vocals, Bill White on bass. The original drummer David Palmer has not played drums in years so he wasn't there for the reunion. Greg Arama died in a motorcycle accident in 1979. Bill White who played bass on the first album and wrote most of the bass parts to the next record Journey was drafted and went off to Nam and that's when Arama stepped in. So it really was as close to the original Amboy Dukes as possible. Also sitting in on the drums for the third ...

Love Detroit Kids CMJWebStore currently sponsors a web talk radio station . This web station is very special because users can interact with the host of the radio station online. This web radio station can be modified to accommodate any and all students in Detroit The students can take an active role in the production, hosting and topic selection of the online radio station. Students will be given a survey to see exactly what topics they would like discussed on their radio station. Such topics may include but are not limited to, current events, school based events, sports, music etc. The students can go online and take an active part in the discussion or simply listen. It is my personal vision to incorporate Black history issues as they relate to the city and current African American culture into the topics discussed by the students. A host or DJ will be selected to maintain the discussion, educate the listeners and keep a steady stream of music for the listeners pleasure. The topics will be ultimately be approved and monitored by the parents and/or staff. Check it out. This brew is for you! cmjwebstore.us

Underground Resistance - A Thousand Questions Taken from the EP, Radioactive Rhythms (Somewhere In Detroit 1997) | TRIBAL | SPACE | Underground Resistance... Underground Resistance is probably the most militantly political outcropping of modern urban American Techno. Combining a grubby, four-track aesthetic, an almost strictly DIY business philosophy, and an oppositional, militaristic ethos similar to Public Enemy without the drama (or the familiarity; the members refuse to be photographed without bandanas obscuring their identities), UR have redirected their portion of the Detroit Techno legacy to social activist ends, trading mainstream popularity and financial success for independence and self-determination. Begun in the early '90s by Detroit second-wave trinity Mike Banks, Robert Hood & Jeff Mills, UR adapted the flavor and kick of early Detroit Techno to the complex social, political, and economic circumstances in the wake of Reagan-era accelerated inner-city decline, and was formed as an outlet for uncompromising music geared toward awareness and change. The early UR catalog is defined by a typically Detroit combination of Motown and Chicago Soul, and ruthless, at times caustic Lo-Fi Techno, Acid, and Electro (Mills' background is in, among other things, Chicago industrial and EBM-style Electro-Techno, with Banks and Hood both coming from a solid House and Techno base). Much of the label's early output was the product of various permutations of Banks, Mills, and ...

This is going to sound silly but the 2 - 3 handclap in this turns me on summit chronic!! My days, what an amazing EP this really is!! HD Substance - Bahn Blues Taken from the EP, Feet Food Part 4 (Software 2009) | MADRID | DUB | Luis Rozalén (HD Substance)... From Madrid, Spain. Luis Rozalén has been involved in electronic music since the late 80's. He bought his first synth in 1987 and formed a band called Ballet Mecánico - heavily Synth-Pop influenced. After travelling to London he discovered Acid House and LFO, then came Detroit with all the first UR and Transmat releases. Shocked, he decided to start DJ'ing after a Kenny Larkin show at the first Sonar Festival in '95. Now he regularly plays all over the world and at the best festivals Soon after he created his first label, Miranda records. He also starts releasing EP's on other labels from around the world. His initial succes comes in the form of the Atlas label. In three years he creates a trademark Techno sound, appreciated by key DJs worldwide - Carl Cox (regularly charting his tunes), Laurent Garnier and Richie Hawtin. His new EP comes in three parts on the new label Shareware, and her sister labels, Hardware and Software. (Edited) -MySpace: www.myspace.com It has been almost two decades since Luis Rozalén stepped onto a stage for the first time and 10 years since the release of his first album as HD Substance, but the Madrid-based producer, DJ and vocalist remains faithful to his principles. In this special set ...

Rob Little's outlook on life can be summed-up in two words: Pure Optimism. At a young age, he developed and nurtured an upbeat philosophy about life. In a recent interview he revealed, "In elementary school, kids would always pull food away from me at lunchtime saying mean, hurtful things like 'Let go of my sandwich!'" Fortunately, Rob's ability to see things in a positive light, coupled with his desire to make people laugh, has served him well. Watch Rob in action, and you'll agree that he is one of the very best stand-up comedians in the country. A sketch comedy player on the Fox Sports Net Show, "The Best Damn Sports Show Period" and "Last Call with Carson Daly," Little uses his training from the world famous Second City Comedy Club to create routines that are inventive, funny, spontaneous, and completely unique. He headlines clubs and colleges all over the country, has appeared in national television commercials and on such shows as "Strictly Sex with Dr. Drew," Comedy Central's "Distraction," Fox News and SiTV's "Latino Laugh Festival." He also earned a role on the CBS network summer hit series, "Fire me Please." Rob's recently released comedy CD, "Born 20 Inches Long," is another testament to his talent and status as a comedic force. The Detroit Free press selected him as Michigan's "Best up and Coming Comedian," and he earned the title of "finalist" in both the Seattle and San Francisco International Comedy Competitions. Rob was also selected as a feature performer ...

A fitting tribute party for Ron Asheton guitarist for The Stooges was held at the historic Music Hall in downtown Detroit. Ron talked about how he wanted pipes to be played in the event of his passing according to Colonel Galaxy who along with Niagara hosted the tribute. It was without a doubt the most touching moment of the night. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him as the 29th greatest guitarist of all time. Close friends all mention his great sense of humor but his influence on other guitar players cannot be overstated.Ron's playing was exceptional just as the man was off stage. We will miss you Ron. RIP

www.silverdaledubs.org ________________________________________ Bovill - Yd Blues Taken from the EP, Contour (Meanwhile 2004) | SMOOTH | GROOVE | Bovill... Bovill is from London, UK. Founder of the Meanwhile label along with Murmur, Bovill has been invloved in electronic music in one form or another for well over a decade. A love of Detroit Techno, Chicago House, Electro, and the the deeper sounds of Berlin lead Bovill to spin tunes at some of London's seminal nights in the mid 90's at clubs such as Analogue City, Absolute, and Electric Underground, where the headline acts would include Robert Hood, Claude Young, Juan Atkins, and DJ Hell amongst others. Bovill would often be found in the second room, where more downtempo (although not by todays standards) and more experimental sounds could be aired. Apart from tinkering with synths, Bovill also enjoys a good session behind the drum kit and currently plays in Muchos Perros. Also lurking in there are the one and only NOW whose ealier incarnations such as the Fear Of Muzak, Pempanew, and Kewpie Nymph utilized the Bovill stick work. And then there's the skateboarding. 22 years man and boy. (Edited) -myspace: www.myspace.com

www.artistopia.com This piece was written early in Jelly Roll's career in Detroit as "The Wolverines". It was later published in 1923 by Melrose and the Spikes Brothers, who added the word "blues" to the title, knowing that it would increase sales. It is not a blues, but a standard 32 bar chorus with a verse. The sheet music features the New Orleans Rhythm Kings who introduced this version of the tune in 1923.

Lemon James is famous all over the world as the Detroit muscle-flexing rock chick, and she's also a helluva guitar girl, singin' & slingin' riffs like Jimi Hendrix. This song is about her cat chillin' outside on a spring day. Here in Michigan, some of our days during the holidays have been like spring days in the 50's and 60's.

From the 1973 Winter In America album. To any Americans they don't call out....consider yourself lucky! A number dedicated to Richard Nixon, Spiro Agnew and the memory of the Watergate scandal. Not many people with an association to the Nixon administration came out unscathed. Also, the views expressed by Gil & Brian are THEIRS and NOT MINE!! (Go yell at them if you are offended) Still, I love this song but it is a little controversial. Some of what they say is still relevant today! Enjoy!...
