Detroit Senate 4/34 Wurlitzer Theatre Organ - Paul playing the happy tune The Jolly Coppersmith on this awesome theatre organ. ( Der Kreuzfidele Kupferschmied, 1890 ) This song is sometimes heard on band organs and player pianos and is also a favorite of concert, brass, or military bands. More info about the Wurlitzer is at www.dtos.org Pictures from flickr.com with Creative Commons license.
Was this done recently? Sounds like they fixed the Bass Drum head…sounded like it had a hole in it when I was there in March for the concert.
I played it at a practice session on Sept. 21, 2008. Recorded with an Edirol R-09HR. I’m not sure about the drum, was just having a fun time with the Wurlitzer.
Wow- I commented on “Pietro’s Return”… I didn’t even think to look at this or your other videos- dang… I could imagine what
“Return” would sound like on the Senate Wurly… beautiful. Now I feel really stupid
after the comment I left at “Return”- you are
already quite an accomplished musician, and
quite familiar with the theatre organ.
I am humbled.
