In order to be a model you need a whole lot more than a pretty face. You need discipline and talent on top of a perfect body to be a successful model. It is actually very rare to find someone with model potential. If you believe you have what it takes, the first thing you are going to need is a portfolio, that will make the agency's jaw drop. A diary of past work is a good way to show a company that you are model material, and that you are not wasting the agency's time. Knowing how to build your portfolio is not a simple task and takes nearly as much effort as actually modeling.

You are striving for perfection. The pose, the lighting, what your body says,and the emotion you evoke are all part of what you need to master to be a model and your portfolio needs to show that you have potential in each and everyone of these areas. Modeling is more than just being attractive, but becoming a representation of a product.

You always want to keep them coming back for more. If looking at yourself in a mirror or in front of friends for hours on end is what it takes to master this, then that is exactly what you need to do.

In an industry full of perfection, you are competing against the perfect bodies. You have to prove your better, over everyone else.

Know how to market yourself and go after the market that works best for you. The wrong market can land you in an embarrassing mistake for everyone involved. The photographer needs to be very skilled. Remember that companies want to make sure that their models are well worth the investment. You need to show them that you are willing to give it your all. This means do not pick any old camera off the shelf, with your mom taking the pictures. It is important to invest in a professional photographer and preferably one that specializes in modeling photography. You want to choose a photographer that can portray your ideal. There is always room for improvement but, your second best is never an option. If you have the talent, the pictures, and the ability to commit to all or nothing, you might have what it takes to become a model.
